Since 2016, we have been fortunate to benefit from the expertise of Hubert de Boüard, a renowned consulting oenologist who has notably worked at Château Angelus. Throughout the year, he guides our team through essential steps such as deciding on harvest dates, adapting the vinification process according to the characteristics of each vintage, and providing valuable support in the choices of aging.
A team of harvesters traverses the vine rows from mid-September to mid-October to gather the grapes in small crates of 13 kg each to preserve the integrity of the berries.
We carry out a meticulous selection of our grapes in four stages : the first selection takes place in the vineyards, followed by a second just before destemming. The grapes are then subjected to density sorting, and finally, a more precise manual sorting is carried out on a vibrating table.
This diversity of materials allows us to adjust our winemaking process according to the unique characteristics of each terroir, grape variety, harvest maturity, and vintage peculiarities.
The design of the vats has been meticulously crafted to ensure optimal thermal inertia, as well as delicate extraction of aromas, colors, and tannins.
Thanks to his experiences within Crus Classés, Joao Loureiro, Cellar Master of Château Plain Point, implements several ageing techniques to ensure that each cuvée benefits from a customized approach.
The red wines undergo meticulous care during ageing, which can take place in concrete or wooden tanks, as well as in French oak barrels. This ageing period typically ranges from 12 to 18 months and is adjusted based on the characteristics of each vintage. For the white wines, a diversified approach is also adopted. 50% are directly vinified in barrels and aged on lees for 10 months, with regular stirring. The other half undergoes a vinification and ageing process in tanks on lees.
As a true conductor, Bertrand oversees and manages all technical aspects of the wine production. From one vintage to another, he perfects the style of Château Plain Point, combining elegance, balance, complexity, and power.
With 19 years of presence, Pascal knows every corner of the Château Plain Point vineyard. Thanks to his expertise and commitment to sustainable viticulture, Pascal ensures the high quality of our precious grapes.
Arriving in 2023 and drawing on his expertise gained within Classified Growths, Joao implements several winemaking and aging techniques to ensure that each of our cuvées receives a tailor-made elaboration.
